Charming vintage ambiance and welcoming staff.
Dated decor and poor condition of carpets.

The hotel sits centrally in Lerwick, putting unique shops and cafes within easy reach. The high-ceiling rooms have a distinctive Victorian charm, making for an interesting atmosphere.
The tall 1887 brick structure lacks a lift, which makes navigating multiple flights of stairs a chore, especially after a long day. Rooms show signs of aging with dated decor, peeling wallpaper, and carpets that could use a deep clean. Amenities like fridges and security chests seem absent, and shower heads definitely need an upgrade. The hotel bar appears lifeless and the reception is oddly not manned—keys must be collected from the bar instead. Internet access isn't communicated clearly, leaving guests guessing how to connect.

the breakfast was amazin, micky gave us great choices and even got some fresh smoked haddock. janet was super friendly in the dining room, even helped us find the carpark. harvey made us feel at home and upgraded us to a seaview room, which was really nice. the staff were all friendly and helpful, made our stay really comfy. we had a great time and would totally recommend to others.
the hotel needs some repairs, the decor is a bit outdated and some things were peeling. also, there was no elevator and some rooms were a bit noisy from the street.

Had a lovely time enjoying the cozy bar and the hearty breakfast service. The hotel offered a great outdoor area to relax and a nice lounge perfect for unwinding in the evenings. A minor detail was the absence of a 'do not disturb' sign for our door, but it didn’t take away from our overall enjoyment. 😊

The breakfast here was a highlight. the chef whipped up the most delicious spread each morning. My family loved the spacious dining area where we could enjoy our meals with beautiful views. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to help us.
My kids wished there were more kid-friendly activities available. The stairs made it tough for our little ones to navigate, so a lift would have been a lifesaver.
